FAQs

What conditions do your specialists treat?

Our board-certified podiatrists treat a wide range of foot and ankle conditions for patients of every age, including:

  • Ingrown toenails, fungal infections, and calluses
  • Chronic heel pain and plantar fasciitis
  • Ankle deformities, sprains, and fractures
  • Bunions, hammertoes, and other structural changes
  • Diabetic foot care and peripheral circulation concerns

We combine individualized care with advanced technology, so whether your concern is minor or complex, you can expect a thorough, evidence-based evaluation.

Can a podiatrist help with foot pain caused by sports activities?

Yes. Our specialists regularly treat active patients throughout the Puget Sound area for sports-related foot and ankle injuries. Rather than addressing pain in isolation, we evaluate gait and biomechanics to identify what is placing excess stress on the foot or ankle, whether that stems from running, court sports, or general activity. Depending on the findings, treatment may include:

  • Custom orthotics to correct an underlying alignment issue
  • Physical therapy to rebuild strength and mobility
  • Guidance on modifying training or activity levels
  • Bracing to support the area during recovery

Addressing sports-related injuries early typically leads to a smoother, faster recovery.

What should I expect during my first foot and ankle evaluation?

Your first visit typically follows this process:

  • A detailed discussion of your symptoms, including onset, triggers, and how they affect your daily life
  • A physical examination to assess range of motion, swelling, and tenderness
  • On-site digital X-rays, if your provider determines imaging is necessary
  • A clear, coordinated treatment plan, explained fully before you leave

Because our practice manages every stage of your care under one roof, your provider will also outline how imaging, orthotics, or follow-up visits fit together, so nothing feels disjointed.

Do you offer non-surgical treatment options before recommending surgery?

Yes. Most conditions we treat are resolved without surgery. Prior to recommending a surgical approach, our specialists typically consider:

  • Custom-fitted orthotics for structural support
  • Stretching protocols and structured physical therapy
  • Advanced, non-invasive treatment options
  • Targeted injections for inflamed joints or tendons
  • Footwear guidance based on your foot structure

Should surgery be necessary, our team performs the surgery and manages your recovery and rehabilitation directly, rather than referring you elsewhere.

Can I get a second opinion on a foot or ankle condition or proposed surgery?

Yes, we frequently provide second opinions to help patients feel fully informed. Our specialists will assess your condition, evaluate any previous diagnostic imaging, and offer a clear, expert perspective on the most appropriate path forward.

Do you accept my insurance, and how can I confirm my coverage?

We accept most major insurance plans, including but not limited to Anthem, Aetna, Cambia Health Solutions, Centene, Cigna, Community Health Plan of Washington, Humana, Medicare, Molina Healthcare of Washington, Premera Blue Cross of Washington, Tricare West Region, and United Healthcare. Since coverage details vary by plan, we recommend calling our office ahead of your visit so our team can confirm your specific benefits.

How quickly can I get an appointment?

Same-week appointments are typically available, with same-day openings common as well. A primary care referral is usually not required to schedule a visit. For urgent concerns, call us for immediate availability options so you can be seen without unnecessary delay.

Do you provide on-site digital X-rays?

Yes. Every Integrative Foot & Ankle Centers of Washington location is equipped with on-site digital X-ray imaging, allowing your exam and imaging to take place in a single visit.

How will I receive my diagnostic test or imaging results?

Results are made available through your secure Patient Portal as soon as they are ready. We then schedule a follow-up appointment so your provider can review the findings with you and outline the next steps in your treatment plan.

How often should I visit a podiatrist?

Recommended visit frequency depends on your health status and activity level:

  • Generally healthy adults: an annual check-up, especially if you use orthotics
  • Patients with diabetes or circulation concerns: at least once annually, sometimes with closer monitoring for higher-risk patients
  • Active patients: periodic evaluations to help identify overuse patterns before they become injuries
  • Acute pain or a new injury: we recommend scheduling a visit promptly rather than waiting

Because same-day and same-week appointments are typically available, there is rarely a reason to delay care.
